2008 list first published July 21, 2008. Revised 05.08.2008, 31.08.2008, 20.01.2009, 03.03.2009
This revision includes corrections, but no new events.
Standardplay grades, as before, are 2008 grades including all events up to the end of May 2008. Players whose Standard grade has changed since the pre-season August list are highlighted in blue, and their August grade is still shown if you inspect the full player details. To do this, click on the player's grading code ('Ref'). This will also show his complete record of grades since 1994.
Rapidplay grades, as before, are January halfyear grades including all events up to the end of November 2008.
You can choose to see "active" players only (those with a current grade). Or you can include "inactive" players who are not currently graded but have been graded in the past.
For more information see the help page.
"NEW GRADES"
have been more extensively revised, correcting an error in the junior calculations. (Adults are minimally affected.) Junior New Grades, by and large, have increased significantly at the younger end of the age range and decreased at the upper end. One effect is a dramatic reduction in the number of negative grades (always published as 0) among children of primary school age.
Reminder
The purpose of New Grades is to undo the perceived deflation of grades over the years. For a full explanation, see "New Grades" in the menu on the left. New Grades do not come into force until next season (2009-10), starting with the 2009 grading list. However, New Grades have been calculated for 2008 and they are shown as well as the traditional Old Grades. To see the New Grades, display the full player details. The New Grades appear in red.
The 2008 New Grades shown here, while not in force for this season, will be used in the July 2009 calculations.
